Welcome

WELCOME!!!

Welcome to the Eugene Oregon Santa Clara Stake 5k and 1 Mile website.

We are so excited for this event and hope that you are feeling motivated too.

Remember, we are all daughters of a loving Father in Heaven. He loves us and wants us to succeed. He celebrates all of your accomplishments, in life or on the race course, and you should too. And when life gets hard or at mile 2.3 you get tired, our savior will help you through. You can do it.

This should be a fun event, lets accomplish things together.

Details

Who: All women 12 and older from the Eugene Oregon Santa Clara Stake are invited to participate.  Non-member guests are welcome!

Where: The event will take place at Alton Baker Park on a 5K and 1 mile route.

Why: This is an exciting opportunity to challenge ourselves to become healthier and show ourselves that we can accomplish hard things.  Through this, we will learn to set and achieve challenging goals.  We can utilize this same pattern to come closer to our Savior, and through the atonement achieve difficult spiritual, physical, and emotional transformations.  We are daughters of God, and with His help we can accomplish all things.

After Party: Families are invited to cheer the sisters on during and after the race. Feel free to bring your own picnic to enjoy as we celebrate our accomplishments in Alton Baker Park.

FAQ's

Can I invite women who are not members of our church?
YES!!

What if I dont want to run or walk but I want to participate?
We don't want to leave anyone out. There are LOTS of opportunities to participate. We need many volunteers to help things run smoothly and we want these volunteers to be sisters if possible. Please contact your ward representative if you want to help.

What should I wear?
Comfortable workout clothes and a good pair of broken-in shoes is recommended. Please dress modestly. No bare midriffs, no short shorts and no sleeveless shirts or tank tops.

Is there a specific training plan I should follow?
Nope, go at your own pace. There are many training programs on the internet, such as Couch to 5K that may help you find a way to set and achieve you goal.  The first step is to start!

Many people have found they are able to stick to a schedule when they exercise with a friend or a group.  We encourage you to invite others who are at about your same ability and pace to join you.

What does 5k mean?
5k stands for 5 kilometers which is 3.1 miles.

Are families and children invited?
The race is for women 12 years old and up. Families, including primary age children, are invited to cheer us on and socialize at the after party in the park. Please bring your own picnic.

How much does it cost?
Nothing!  We may have a small fee to cover the cost of a t-shirt if you choose to buy one.
